Job Description
ProspectBlue is partnering with a leading organization seeking a Senior Accountant to join their corporate accounting team. This is a hands-on role focused on month-end close, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze and resolve accounting issues while partnering across the business.
This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and corporate accounting policies while supporting process improvements and maintaining a strong internal control environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage month-end close activities, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, account analysis, and financial reporting support.
- Perform and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of discrepancies.
- Manage accounting for accruals, prepaid expenses, and monthly amortizations while analyzing underlying activity.
- Analyze account activity, investigate variances, and identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and financial support.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to understand business activity, cost drivers, and ensure accurate expense recognition.
- Assist in maintaining and improving accounting policies, procedures, and process documentation.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate accounting standards.
- Support accounting projects and initiatives focused on improving efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong understanding of GAAP principles.
- Experience with month-end close, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Public company, public accounting, or complex corporate accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities.
