Job Description
ProspectBlue is currently working with a real estate company on their search for a property accountant. This role is a hybrid position that provides accounting support to the CAO and Property Management team while serving as the primary Accounts Payable and Receivable manager.
Key Responsibilities
• General Ledger & Reconciliation: Oversee comprehensive general ledger maintenance, including monthly accruals, complex bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and intercompany eliminations to ensure accuracy
• Reporting: Work with external CPA firms to provide support for year-end tax filings and audit reporting
• Accounts Payable (AP): Perform full-cycle AP for Residential and Commercial portfolios. This includes receiving, coding, verifying, and processing invoices.
• Payment Management: Schedule and prepare checks, resolve discrepancies, and ensure all credits or overpayments are captured.
• Accounts Receivable (AR): Manage cash applications for all incoming payments. Ensure all receipts are applied timely and accurately to the correct accounts.
• Collections & Billing: Generate invoices, monitor past-due accounts, and lead collection efforts for both vendors and tenants.
Administrative Support
• Executive Assistance: Provide direct financial and clerical support to the CAO.
• Team Collaboration: Act as a "flex" resource for the Property Management team during peak periods or high-volume seasons.
• Banking: Prepare, scan, and upload bank deposits (or handle physical bank runs as required).
Qualifications & Skills
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required. 2-4 years of full accounting experience; property management or real estate background is a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Exceptional communication skills and high-level organizational habits. You must be able to manage your own desk without constant supervision. You must also be able to follow and track conversations and tasks, enact follow up and ask questions.
