Job Description

ProspectBlue seeks a Risk Management & Safety Manager for their client in Richmond, VA!

About the Role

We're looking for a Risk Management & Safety Manager to lead our enterprise risk management strategy across a network of warehouse and showroom branches. This role is responsible for identifying and evaluating all insurable risks to which the company is exposed, building and managing our insurance program, and driving a culture of proactive risk mitigation — with safety as a core pillar.

What You'll Do

Risk Management & Insurance

  • Identify, analyze, and mitigate operational, financial, legal, and safety risks across the organization
  • Negotiate and place a comprehensive insurance program to protect company assets, associates, and customers
  • Evaluate contracts, insurance certificates, and regulatory documents for risk exposure
  • Monitor reserve adequacy, claim progress, and negotiate settlements to minimize company loss
  • Collaborate with operations, sales, logistics, HR, and insurance partners to manage risk proactively

Claims Management

  • Manage the reporting and handling of all insurance claims — property, auto, GL, workers' comp, and product-related
  • Investigate incidents by collecting statements, reviewing documentation, and coordinating site visits
  • Ensure timely submission and accurate documentation throughout the claim lifecycle

Safety & Compliance

  • Implement consistent safety standards, SOPs, and training programs across all branch locations
  • Conduct regular on-site audits, lead incident investigations, and drive root cause analysis
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable regulations
  • Collaborate with HR on workers' compensation and return-to-work programs
  • Deliver and coordinate safety training across branches (forklift, load securement, PPE, emergency response, etc.)
  • Track and report on safety KPIs and trend data to drive continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

  • 3–5+ years of progressive experience in risk management, safety, and claims — warehousing, logistics, or manufacturing preferred
  • Multi-site experience required
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and DOT compliance
  • Ability to interpret contracts, insurance certificates, and regulatory documents
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly

Preferred

  • Bachelor's in Risk Management, Occupational Safety, or related field
  • Certifications: CPCU, ARM, CSP, CHST, OHST, or ASP
  • Experience with heavy material handling operations

Includes travel; 40-50%
