ProspectBlue has partnered with a local company who is seeking a Senior Estimator with a specialty in Drywall/Interiors.
Key Qualifications for Drywall / Interior Specialty Subcontractor
Required Experience
• 10+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction, with at least 5 years focused on drywall, framing, acoustical ceilings, and interior specialty scopes.
• Proven track record estimating and winning large-scale projects up to $25M in contract value.
• Strong background working with general contractors, developers, and commercial project teams in sectors such as healthcare, office, education, hospitality, and multifamily.
• Experience leading estimates on design build, design assist, negotiated, and hard-bid opportunities.
Technical Skills
• Advanced proficiency with estimating software such as:
o On-Screen Takeoff (OST)
o PlanSwift
o Bluebeam Revu
o Quick Bid, Sage/Timberline, or comparable platforms
• Strong understanding of:
o Metal stud framing (load-bearing and non-load-bearing)
o Drywall systems
o Insulation
o Acoustical ceilings
o Firestopping & specialties
o Prefab systems (if applicable)
• Ability to read and interpret complex architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
• Strong knowledge of construction schedules, sequencing, and labor productivity norms for interior systems.
• Competence in preparing detailed quantity takeoffs, material/labor breakdowns, alternates, VE options, and scope clarifications.
Business & Leadership Skills
• Proven ability to manage all phases of the estimating process: conceptual, schematic, DD, CD, and final bid.
• Strong negotiation skills and experience interacting with vendors, manufacturers, and specialty suppliers.
• Ability to lead internal estimate reviews, develop bid strategies, and present estimates to executive leadership.
• Experience mentoring junior estimators and contributing to estimating department process improvements.
• Comfortable managing multiple deadlines and delivering accurate estimates under time pressure.
Analytical & Professional Skills
• High attention to detail and ability to identify gaps, risks, and constructability issues.
• Strong communication skills: written scopes, RFI development, bid proposals, and internal reporting.
• Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with GCs, architects, consultants, and field teams.
• Solid financial understanding, including margin management, production rates, material pricing trends, and cost escalation considerations.
Education & Certifications (Preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience.
• CSI CDT, ASPE certification, or related industry credentials preferred.
• OSHA 30 or other safety related training is a plus.
