ProspectBlue has partnered with a reputable law firm in Richmond, VA and is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Paralegal. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in the Corporate and Securities practice with commercial real estate transactions. This role is suited for an experienced paralegal who can independently manage matters from start to finish, mentor junior staff, and serve as a primary contact for clients and third parties. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple transactions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Independently manage commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, leases, financings, and refinancings
Draft, review, and revise commercial real estate documents, including purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, closing materials, and amendments
Review title commitments, surveys, zoning reports, environmental reports, and other due diligence materials; prepare title objections as needed
Coordinate due diligence and closing requirements with clients, lenders, opposing counsel, and vendors
Prepare and file entity formation documents and required state and governmental filings
Manage post-closing obligations and follow-up items
Maintain organized physical and electronic transaction files
Ensure compliance with firm procedures, client requirements, and legal and ethical standards
Assist attorneys with workflow coordination and process improvements
Skills and Qualifications
Strong knowledge of commercial real estate transactions and closing procedures
Excellent drafting, proofreading, and document management skills
Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines with minimal supervision
Understanding of title, survey, and zoning issues
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, legal document management systems, and e-recording platforms
Professional discretion and strong client-facing skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively; flexibility to work overtime as needed
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and/or associate degree in paralegal studies, legal studies, or a related field required
Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred
Minimum of three years of experience as a commercial real estate paralegal
