Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Fleet and Logistics Manager to lead our safety training initiatives, oversee fleet management, ensure regulatory compliance, and support logistical operations. This role requires someone with a strong background in logistics management, on-the-road driving, and regulatory knowledge to ensure smooth operations and a safe work environment.

Responsibilities:

Safety Training & Driver Development:

  • Lead monthly safety training sessions and help new drivers complete a 90-day HazMat training program.

  • Conduct ride-alongs and mock inspections to ensure drivers are ready for the road.

  • Ensure all driver qualification files are up-to-date and compliant with regulatory standards.

Fleet Management & Maintenance:

  • Inspect and oversee fleet vehicle maintenance to ensure optimal safety and efficiency.

  • Track and manage tire inventory, ensuring necessary repairs are made quickly.

  • Ensure all trucks are equipped with accident management materials and that drivers are trained to handle emergency situations.

Fuel & Equipment Management:

  • Monitor diesel fuel usage, purchase, and prepare monthly reports to ensure the fleet runs smoothly.

  • Assess and integrate new fleet equipment that aligns with company standards.

  • Oversee automated systems (ELD, GPS, Fuel Card) to ensure their optimal performance.

Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:

  • Assist with state/federal DOT inspections and navigate FMCSA compliance challenges.

  • Maintain safety manuals, audit reports, and track fleet expenses.

  • Work closely with accounting to ensure compliance with the budget and manage capital fleet expenditures.

Logistics & Licensing Support:

  • Help obtain necessary fleet licenses and coordinate fleet resource use across various divisions.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 5+ years in logistics management or supervising logistics staff.

  • On-the-road driving experience (preferred).

  • Knowledge of chemical distribution operations is a plus!

  • Proficiency in transportation software and creating Excel spreadsheets.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License (required).

  • Class A CDL with HazMat and Tanker endorsements (preferred).

  • Forklift certification (required).

Other Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and train a team.
