ProspectBlue is partnered with a local beverage manufacturing company looking to add an Accounting Manager to their team in Richmond, Virginia.
Position Summary
Our client is looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join its corporate finance team. This role will report to the VP of Accounting and is key to ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting and providing strategic insights to support business decisions. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a deep understanding of accounting principles and a passion for process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
- Lead the monthly close process, including departmental expense reviews and preparation of financial reports and supporting workpapers.
- Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, encouraging continuous development and growth.
- Coordinate the annual financial statement audit with external auditors.
- Establish and enhance accounting policies and procedures to drive consistency and operational excellence.
- Partner cross-functionally with other departments to deliver financial insights that support decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and audit requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Adhere to and promote safety protocols; identify and report potential hazards or suggest improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
This position is based at the company’s corporate headquarters in Glen Allen, VA. A hybrid work arrangement is available, with remote access to all necessary systems.
Tools & Equipment Used
Standard office equipment including a computer, phone, copier, calculator, and printer.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Occasional lifting (up to 10 lbs.)
- Frequent typing and manual dexterity
- Visual acuity for reviewing financial documents
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA required
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and relevant regulatory standards
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team
