Job Description

ProspectBlue is seeking a skilled and creative AV (Audio-Visual) Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of AV systems, including design, installation, and troubleshooting. As an AV Design Engineer, you will work with cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative AV solutions for a wide range of projects, including corporate offices, conference rooms, auditoriums, and other large-scale venues.

Key Responsibilities:

• AV System Design:

  • Design comprehensive AV solutions for commercial and residential projects, ensuring that all systems meet functional, aesthetic, and budgetary requirements.
  • Produce detailed system drawings, specifications, and diagrams for AV system installations.
  • Select appropriate AV equipment (e.g., projectors, screens, speakers, control systems, etc.) based on project requirements.

• Collaboration & Project Management:

  • Work closely with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather project requirements and provide AV design input.
  • Coordinate with installation teams to ensure the proper implementation of AV systems.
  • Prepare cost estimates and timelines for projects and monitor project progress to ensure completion within budget and schedule.

• System Integration:

  • Design and integrate complex audio and video systems with control systems and other technologies (e.g., lighting, HVAC, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with AV systems during the design and installation phases.

• Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain and update system documentation, including schematics, layouts, equipment lists, and user manuals.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local codes, standards, and regulations.

• Client Support and Training:

  • Provide post-installation support and training to clients on the operation of AV systems.
  • Offer recommendations for system improvements and upgrades based on client needs.

Qualifications:

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, AV Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in AV system design or related fields.
  • Strong experience in AV equipment, control systems, and integration platforms (e.g., Crestron, AMX, Extron, etc.).

• Skills:

  • Proficiency with AV design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Visio, or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of signal flow, equipment specifications, and integration methods.
  • Ability to create and understand technical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with network-based AV systems and IP-based technologies.

• Certifications:

  • CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or other relevant AV certifications preferred.

• Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team and directly with clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
