ProspectBlue is published with a local construction company looking to add an experienced Accounting Manager to its team in Richmond, VA!Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of finance associates in performing various accounting duties, with a primary focus on overseeing compensation and commission accounting processes, ensuring calculations are accurate and discrepancies are addressed promptly.
- Oversee the Company’s time and expense reporting processes and reporting
- Manage the processing of monthly journal entries to maintain accurate account balances.
- Actively engage in the professional development of team members through mentoring, coaching, and providing growth opportunities. Identify and nurture potential leaders within the team.
- Promote an environment of continuous improvement by encouraging innovation, recognizing and rewarding creative problem-solving, and implementing best practices.
- Assist in lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Prepare and review schedules for reporting and assist in the explanation of monthly results.
- Conduct detailed ad-hoc analyses to provide insights into financial results
- Ensure timely acquisition and processing of relevant financial information, and that representations are accurate.
- Analyze large data sets to perform variance analysis.
- Develop, review, and document business processes to enhance and uphold internal controls.
- Safeguard the organization's value by upholding a high level of integrity and ensuring confidentiality of financial data.
- Support and guide the accounting team in various tasks and projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (Required), Master’s Degree (Preferred)
- Certified Public Accountant or CPA candidate with active plan for certification (Required)
- Minimum of five years of experience in accounting or auditing, including at least two years experience as a supervisor or manager
- Experience in compensation and commission accounting processes
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Capable of financial analysis and complex research procedures.

Work Environment: This is a full-time position. Standard hours of work are Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:30 PM.
