Buyer II

Position Overview:

Lead end‑to‑end strategic sourcing and procurement for high‑value engineered components and capital equipment. Own category strategies, drive supplier innovation, and ensure best‑in‑class cost, quality, and lead‑time performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for core commodity categories (steel, piping, electrical, controls, etc.)
  • Lead complex RFQs/RFPs and manage multi‑stage bid evaluations

  • Negotiate and manage high‑value contracts, including long‑term agreements and framework pricing

  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships with key suppliers; drive supplier innovation and continuous improvement

  • Conduct supplier segmentation, risk assessments, and implement mitigation plans

  • Analyze and report on spend data to uncover savings opportunities and optimize total cost of ownership

  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Finance to align procurement activities with project goals and budgets

  • Mentor and develop junior procurement staff; establish and enforce best practices, policies, and KPI frameworks

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field

  • 5–7+ years of progressive strategic sourcing/procurement experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments

  • Proven track record negotiating and managing multi‑million‑dollar spend categories

  • Deep expertise in contract law, Incoterms, and supplier risk management
  • Advanced analytical skills; proficiency with spend‑analysis tools, ERP reporting, and Excel (pivot tables, macros)

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management abilities

Preferred:

  • CPSM, CPIM, or equivalent procurement certification

  • Experience in modular construction or data‑center equipment procurement
  • Lean Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement certification
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and EHS compliance standards
