Accounting Manager

Our client is hiring an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations and support continued company growth. This role will manage day-to-day accounting functions while also helping improve financial processes, reporting, technology, and job-costing practices.

The ideal candidate has strong construction accounting and job-costing experience, is comfortable working with leadership and operations, and enjoys finding better ways to improve systems and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll support, and general ledger
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close and reporting
  • Maintain accurate financial records, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation
  • Oversee job costing, project profitability, labor costs, and margin analysis
  • Partner with operations and project management to ensure accurate project financial reporting
  • Oversee customer billing, invoicing, collections, and revenue recognition
  • Support AIA, percentage-of-completion, and other project-specific billing requirements
  • Review payroll reporting and labor allocations for accurate job costing
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and overall financial performance
  • Coordinate with external CPA partners on taxes, year-end reporting, and financial reviews
  • Maintain and improve accounting systems, reporting processes, and workflows
  • Identify opportunities for automation, technology improvements, and process efficiencies
  • Develop and improve financial reports, KPIs, dashboards, and management reporting
  • Support compliance, audits, insurance reporting, certified payroll, lien waivers, and related documentation
  • Serve as a financial partner to ownership and leadership, providing analysis and insight to support business decisions

Requirements

  • Proven experience in construction accounting and job costing
  • Strong understanding of AP, AR, reconciliations, payroll reporting, and financial statements
  • Experience with QuickBooks and Procore; Microsoft 365 proficiency
  • Experience with accounting system integrations, automation, and process improvement
  • Ability to analyze financial and operational data and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with leadership, customers, vendors, and internal teams
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growing organization
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology, systems, and processes
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
