DIRECTOR OF PURCHASING/PROCUREMENT – Direct Hire | Fishers, IN

About the Role

Our client is looking for a Director of Purchasing/Procurement to build and lead a scalable procurement function. You’ll manage a small purchasing team, partner directly with senior leadership, and drive down spend through vendor consolidation, stronger processes, and smarter sourcing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach, and develop the Purchasing team — empowering Purchasing Managers to keep owning their categories and vendor relationships, rather than pulling that work back to yourself.
• Set the vision for the department and hold it accountable, including having the tough conversations when they’re needed.
• Communicate clearly, confidently, and directly with the CEO and EVP, and later the CFO, as a trusted procurement partner.
• Own the full contract lifecycle — renewal calendar, obligations, and vendor accountability.
• Help determine what the company should stock in-house versus source through vendors, and select and implement the systems and processes to support it.
• Reduce fragmented spend and consolidate vendors, pursuing the best total value — not just the lowest unit price — as the organization continues to grow.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Supply Chain.
• 10+ years of procurement and purchasing experience, including 5+ years leading a team.
• Proven experience building or transforming a procurement function.
• Experience selecting and implementing procurement systems.
• Multi-site experience across a mix of spend categories.
• A lean-team leadership style that delegates and develops, rather than staying in the weeds.
• Comfortable owning contracts and leveraging AI tools in the process.
