Our client is seeking immediate assistance in identifying a candidate for a direct hire CNC Programmer Applications Engineer position. This individual will develop and optimize CNC machining processes, create and validate CNC programs, and provide hands-on support to manufacturing operations while serving as a technical resource for process improvement, tooling, and advanced machining applications.
Responsibilities:
Develop and improve machining processes for CNC milling, turning, and grinding operations
Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Siemens NX
Generate tool paths for 3, 4, and 5-axis machining centers
Verify CNC programs using Vericut simulation software
Develop setup sheets, tooling lists, work instructions, and machining documentation
Train and mentor machinists on setup procedures, programming best practices, and machining techniques
Troubleshoot machining and programming issues on the manufacturing floor
Design and improve fixtures, work-holding, and gauging solutions
Collaborate with tooling vendors to identify optimal cutting tools and machining strategies
Lead process improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, cycle time reduction, and cost savings
Support quality investigations and corrective actions related to CNC programming and machining processes
Perform time studies and review manufacturing routings and job costing standards
Partner with Manufacturing Engineers, Tool Makers, and Machinists to improve manufacturing processes and product quality
Provide hands-on support to production while developing new machining processes and improving existing operations
Required Skills (Must Have):
710+ years of CNC machining experience in milling, turning, and/or grinding
57+ years of CNC programming experience
Strong Siemens NX programming experience
CAD/CAM proficiency
Experience programming 3, 4, and 5-axis machining centers
Strong understanding of cutting tools, machining strategies, and metal removal processes
Experience supporting shop floor machining operations and troubleshooting production issues
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of precision machining
Experience working within an AS9100 or other highly regulated manufacturing environment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications

Okuma controls experience
Aerospace machining experience
Gas turbine manufacturing experience
Experience machining high-temperature superalloys
Fixture, work-holding, and tooling design experience
