Title: Controls & Integration Engineer
Comp: $100,000$140,000
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Our client is seeking immediate assistance in identifying a candidate for a direct hire Controls & Integration Engineer position. This individual will support and improve the controls infrastructure across an advanced CNC machining operation by programming, integrating, troubleshooting, and modernizing manufacturing equipment while serving as a key technical resource for automation and machine controls.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, modify, troubleshoot, and execute programs within CNC machine controllers
- Support Fanuc CNC integration, machine upgrades, repairs, and maintenance activities
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs, ladder logic, servo systems, VFDs, and digital/analog control systems
- Design, build, and modify electrical control systems for manufacturing equipment
- Develop and support Windows-based applications, CNC motion programs, and machine upgrades
- Diagnose and repair CNC machines, robotic systems, PLCs, and electrical control systems
- Define electrical and electronic control requirements for manufacturing equipment and automation projects
- Coordinate CNC controller programming with internal manufacturing and information systems
- Assist with the installation, startup, commissioning, and integration of new manufacturing equipment
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, skilled trades, and production teams to improve equipment performance and reliability
- Provide technical support for manufacturing equipment requiring electrical or electronic integration
- Maintain programming controls, machine backups, and control system documentation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing technology, automation, and machine performance
- Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor supporting production equipment and troubleshooting machine issues
Required Skills (Must Have):
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or 3+ years of experience designing and building machine controls in a manufacturing environment
- Strong hands-on experience working with CNC machines in a manufacturing setting
- PLC programming and ladder logic troubleshooting experience
- Experience with servo systems, VFDs, digital controls, and analog control systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Experience programming CNC machines, machine controls, manufacturing equipment, or automation systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills involving electrical, mechanical, and computer-controlled systems
- Experience building, repairing, and modifying industrial machine control systems
- Comfortable working extensively on the manufacturing floor
- Basic networking knowledge including Ethernet wiring and network configuration
