Job Title: GIS Specialist – ArcGIS Online

Location: Remote (PST, MST, or CT)

Job Type: 3 or 6 month contract (potential for conversion)

Overview:

Our solar energy and construction client is seeking a GIS Specialist to be the subject matter expert (SME) in GIS technology, particularly with ArcGIS Online tools. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company in the early stages of integrating GIS into their operations. The GIS Specialist will play a critical role in educating the department head, developing prototype maps, and showcasing GIS capabilities for wider adoption across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• GIS Subject Matter Expert (SME): Lead the company’s GIS efforts, guiding the integration and adoption of GIS tools and technologies, with a focus on ArcGIS Online.
• Training and Support: Work closely with the department head to provide training, insights, and recommendations on GIS implementation for solar project planning and execution.
• Map Development: Develop and present maps and spatial data visualizations to demonstrate the value of GIS for decision-making and project management using ArcGIS Online
• Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with internal teams to gather requirements and present GIS solutions to senior leadership, showcasing the benefits for project efficiency and growth.
• GIS Workflow Creation: Develop and document standard GIS workflows and best practices for solar energy projects.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Identify new opportunities for GIS application within the company and keep up-to-date with emerging GIS technologies and trends.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience working with ArcGIS Online and other GIS tools.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain and demonstrate concepts of ArcGIS Online.
• Experience creating and managing GIS web maps, web applications, and spatial data layers.
• Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate GIS concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and engage cross-functional teams.
• Experience in renewable energy, environmental science, or solar energy is a plus but not required.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Field Maps, and Survey123 is highly desirable.
• Experience with QGIS, SQL, and ArcPy are a plus but not required.
