Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Buyer to support procurement activities within a growing industrial manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and services while developing strong supplier relationships and ensuring internal customer requirements are met.
The Buyer will work closely with internal departments and external suppliers to obtain competitive pricing, negotiate commercial terms, manage purchase orders, and resolve purchasing, receiving, and invoicing issues.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, resourceful, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong judgment, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with internal business teams while adhering to company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Manage multiple procurement activities and projects simultaneously while meeting established deadlines.
- Solicit and evaluate supplier quotations based on pricing, delivery schedules, quality, capabilities, and other relevant criteria.
- Conduct market comparisons and supplier evaluations to identify the best overall value.
- Negotiate commercial and contractual terms with suppliers in collaboration with Legal and internal business stakeholders.
- Review approved purchase requisitions and create purchase orders in accordance with established procurement procedures.
- Manage the purchase order lifecycle from creation through completion and closeout.
- Maintain consistent communication between suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure expectations for quality, delivery, and service are met.
- Identify and resolve supplier issues that may affect quality, delivery schedules, or operational commitments.
- Research purchase order history and documentation to investigate and resolve receiving and invoice discrepancies.
- Provide guidance to internal customers regarding purchasing policies, procurement processes, supplier sourcing, and ERP purchasing requirements.
- Assist procurement leadership with initiatives to improve purchasing operations, processes, communication, and supplier performance.
- Review and monitor suppliers for compliance with established quality and performance requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and apply industry best practices to procurement activities.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of related procurement or purchasing experience.
- Procurement experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment is required.
- Strong experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience is highly preferred.
- Experience administering bid packages, obtaining competitive quotations, and conducting supplier evaluations.
- Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing purchase orders.
- Experience resolving purchasing, receiving, and invoicing discrepancies.
Education
- Bachelors degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
