Project Controls – Cost Lead

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Position Overview

The Project Controls – Cost Lead is responsible for establishing and managing cost control processes across a portfolio of capital projects within a growing manufacturing environment. This role offers the opportunity to support the development and implementation of cost management systems for new facility builds and large-scale capital investments.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with experience in CAPEX cost management, financial forecasting, and project performance tracking, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across project management and finance teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of financial planning and cost control for capital projects, including forecasting, tracking, and weekly reporting
  • Partner with project managers to establish annual plans and maintain ongoing forecast updates
  • Develop project tracking tools and reporting templates to support alignment between project and finance teams
  • Prepare and maintain cash flow projections, disbursement schedules, and accruals
  • Support the preparation of capital appropriation requests and monitor purchasing activity to ensure proper financial treatment of capital assets
  • Ensure compliance with company policies related to property, plant, and equipment (PP&E) accounting
  • Oversee implementation and administration of cost management systems (e.g., Prism, EcoSys, or similar), ensuring data integrity and alignment with ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
  • Coordinate with accounting on project setup, master data management, and asset capitalization timelines
  • Monitor equipment installation and commissioning progress to support fixed asset recognition
  • Participate in project closeout reviews to identify lessons learned and improvement opportunities
  • Develop and enhance cost control processes, procedures, and reporting dashboards
  • Travel occasionally to project sites and subcontractor locations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in cost management
  • 3–5 years of experience supporting industrial or capital projects
  • Experience managing cost controls for medium to large CAPEX programs
  • Experience working with ERP or financial systems
