Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Financial Data Analyst to join our Data and Analytics team. This role will support both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy by ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and usability of organizational data. The ideal candidate brings a business-focused mindset to data analysis and has a proven ability to transform data into actionable insights that drive growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze large and complex datasets to assess data quality, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights.
- Review reports and performance indicators to detect and resolve data issues.
- Identify patterns and correlations within datasets to support data-driven decision-making.
- Develop and maintain data quality monitoring processes to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and business leaders to identify process improvements, propose system enhancements, and support data governance initiatives.
- Build and maintain dashboards using Power BI to communicate trends, patterns, and forecasts.
- Work with data engineering and business teams to optimize data models and improve accessibility.
- Produce financial and operational reports that add value to executive and departmental decision-making.
- Innovate new methods for extracting, visualizing, and analyzing data from diverse sources.
- Lead business requirements sessions to gather and document system feature needs.
- Oversee data cataloging, lineage, security, and controls across the organization’s data ecosystem.
- Develop and execute SQL scripts for data validation, testing, and ad-hoc analysis.
- Prepare comprehensive analysis reports that clearly communicate insights and support decision-making.
- Provide end-user training and support to ensure effective utilization of data assets.
- Identify, document, and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Support leadership in defining key performance indicators (KPIs) and building dashboards to track business results.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong experience transforming raw data into actionable datasets.
- Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and prioritization skills.
- Process-oriented with strong documentation abilities.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- Knowledge of accounting or financial principles (GAAP) preferred but not required.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- 8+ years of experience in data analysis, including complex query development.
- 4+ years of experience in data management.
- 3–4 years of experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst.
- Advanced proficiency with Power BI, including dashboard creation and maintenance.
- Advanced SQL skills, including writing and managing stored procedures, views, and functions.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (macros, VBA, pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Familiarity with accounting or ERP platforms is a plus.
