Senior RF Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior RF Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of advanced transmit and receive systems. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in a system-focused environment, working across RF, digital, and analog design while collaborating closely with mechanical and software teams. The engineer will play a critical role in defining PCB and system requirements, ensuring technical excellence, and supporting testing and field deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop innovative solutions for next generation transmit and receive systems, balancing performance and cost efficiency.
- Stay current on cutting-edge advancements in ultra-high power RF communications and apply this expertise to product development.
- Evaluate feasibility of new business opportunities and support bid/proposal efforts.
- Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and effectively communicate them to the project team.
- Perform advanced subsystem and system-level design and analysis using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, RF PathWave, Ansys HFSS, SPICE, and FEKO.
- Provide technical leadership on programs, mentoring engineers and working with Program and Project Managers to deliver on-time, high-quality solutions.
- Ensure compliance with all customers, contract, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with critical suppliers to evaluate and validate solutions during proposal and project phases.
- Identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure system reliability.
- Support system installations, integration, and troubleshooting as a technical subject-matter expert in collaboration with field service teams.
- Drive continuous improvement in design practices, champion subsystem reuse, and foster cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Strong foundation in RF fundamentals, including impedance matching, distributed systems, resonant circuits, noise, linearity, bandwidth, and stability.
- Experience with mixed-signal design, such as SoC/FPGAs, ADCs, DACs, digital waveform generators, converters, and subsystems.
- Skilled in creating schematics, wire lists, and detailed documentation.
- Hands-on lab experience with RF tuning and instruments.
- Experience designing VLF/LF through X-Band transmitters and receivers.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and mentor team members.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic environment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain security clearance within one year.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
