Overview:
An innovative metal manufacturing organization is seeking a skilled Process Engineer to specialize in powder metallurgy, with a focus on powder production, pressing, and sintering. This role requires hands-on experience in developing, optimizing, and sustaining processes from raw material handling through to final sintered components. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving process efficiency, improving product quality, and implementing continuous improvements across operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and optimize powder processing techniques, including pressing and sintering.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to compaction and sintering.
- Analyze process data, identify trends, and recommend improvements to increase yield and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Document process parameters and maintain adherence to best manufacturing practices.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and support the adoption of new technologies within powder metallurgy.
- Perform additional engineering duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials/Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of industrial experience in powder metallurgy (powder production, pressing, and sintering).
- Strong knowledge of powder compaction and sintering, including tooling design.
- Familiarity with process control tools such as SPC, FMEA, and Six Sigma.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication and project management abilities.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
- 5+ years of industrial experience in powder manufacturing and processing.
- Practical knowledge of process safety related to metal powder handling.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
- Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from operators to management, to implement effective solutions.
