Job Summary: The Pediatric Occupational Therapist will provide occupational therapy to patients/clients of all age groups. Plans, implements, and evaluates patient/client care plans to restore or maintain patient/client wellbeing. Evaluates occupational roles and occupational performance of patients/clients with physical, psycho-social and/or cognitive impairments. Provides interventions for deficits and elicit responses. Participates in the coordination of care.
Job Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an accredited program of occupational therapy.
Licensure: Active state license as an occupational therapist assistant. Current driver’s license.
Environmental and Working Conditions: Works in patients’/clients’ homes in various conditions; possible exposure to blood and bodily fluids and infectious diseases; ability to work a flexible schedule; ability to travel locally; some exposure to unpleasant weather.
Physical and Mental Effort: Ability to do heavy lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and standing. Prolonged standing and walking required. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient/client needs and to meet patient/client and family individualized psychosocial needs. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Essential Functions:
Graduated from an accredited program of occupational therapy.
Provides coordinated occupational therapy to patients/clients of all age groups under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist.
Facilitates patients’/clients’ ROM, strength, coordination, use of adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, functional mobility, and safety issues as related to patients’/clients’ ADL performance under the supervision of the OT.
Participates in the coordination of care.
Provide services that are ordered by the physician as indicated in the plan of care, as developed, delegated, and supervised by the OT.
Apply concepts of infection control and standard precautions in coordinating and performing patient/client care activities to prevent contamination and transmission of disease.
Completes appropriate documentation in a timely manner
Accepts clinical assignments that are consistent with education and competence to care for patients/clients.
Uses effective interpersonal relations and communication skills to provide patient/client and caregiver education.
Promotes compliance with all fiscal intermediary and/or other third-party payors, through education, coaching, and other assistance, as necessary.
Demonstrates commitment, professional growth, and competency.
Meets mandatory continuing education requirements; participates in the Agency sponsored in-service training.
Therapy skills as set forth in the Therapy Practice Act and other regulatory agencies.
