Fire Alarm Designer (APS)

ALARM DESIGNER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Perform on site surveys
  • Prepare fire alarm drawings using AutoCAD based from working both site visits and architectural prints
  • Calculate, design and coordinate a project from beginning to end
  • Coordinate technical documents with other disciplines/contractors
  • Modify and/or create processes to ensure consistent production and document control 
  • Assist superintendents and field personnel on system and code applications
  • Assist sales department with system configuration, specification review and code applications for estimating projects
  • Maintain project drawing files and records

Knowledge:

  • High School diploma or GED is required
  • Construction experience is a plus

Work Experience: 

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Fire Alarm system design and Auto CAD
  • APS State of TX preferred

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of industry codes such as IFC, NFPA, IBC, and NEC
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced service/construction team environment
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel as needed

Physical Requirements

  • 75% Office Setting, including sitting, some bending, some lifting, walking and viewing.
