We are seeking a Director of Procurement to join their team at the Des Moines, Iowa, location. This position will be responsible for leading our procurement team in sourcing and purchasing products for our entire organization throughout the Midwest.

What you will do:
- Oversee holistic procurement strategy and vision
- Provide mentorship, coaching, development opportunities, and overall leadership to the procurement team
- Establish, track, and hold team members accountable for departmental KPIs
- Increase total gross profit among all categories
- Direct inventory management and fulfillment at six successful business units around the Midwest
- Reduce inventory shrink through process change and training
- Improve and maintain optimal inventory levels with your team to support on-time deliveries
- Grow partnerships with existing produce suppliers and continually evaluate new and qualified produce suppliers
- Grow specialty categories with marketing and sales support and develop vendor relationships with specialty suppliers to support growth needs
- Support in negotiating vendor contracts and critical business needs
- Maintain and improve the overall company supply chain, including our carrier network for inbound loads and inter-company shuttle needs
- Support the quality assurance team and help to improve QA processes and procedures
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field or experience
- 5+ years of prior procurement experience
- 2-3+ years in a management role with a sound track record of developing employees
- Produce and wholesale foods purchasing/procurement background preferred
- Experience in executing a purchasing strategy that has meaningfully improved gross margin
- Ability to work well with both internal associates and external partners
- Strong desire to learn new things and the ability to put new skills to use
- Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent work ethic; reliable/work flexible schedule as necessary
