Job Description
Description: Our client, an established digital product firm trusted by major national brands, is hiring a Grand Rapids–based Tech Sales Lead to grow its business with West Michigan's largest companies. Reporting to the founder, you'll start with warm relationships and own each opportunity through a signed statement of work. Compensation includes base salary, commission on topline revenue, and a profitability bonus.
Responsibilities/skills:
Work a starting list of warm contacts at companies that already know the firm. Secure meetings and turn those relationships into new opportunities.
Build a pipeline of new accounts beyond your starting list. Use web research to find prospects and buying centers, learn what they care about, and earn your way in.
Be a visible presence in the West Michigan business and technology community. Attend industry and community events and spend time on client campuses building relationships in person.
Set up meetings for company leadership, and bring designers, engineers, and engagement managers into pursuits when an opportunity calls for their expertise.
Lead the writing of statements of work in partnership with the project team. The firm never sells anything its team hasn't helped develop and signed off on.
Own each statement of work through negotiation and signature.
Hand off signed engagements to the engagement team, then stay connected throughout the project to strengthen the relationship and find the next opportunity.
Keep your pipeline, contacts, and activity current in HubSpot so leadership has an accurate view of the business.
Qualifications:
About five years of professional experience in the technology industry: software, digital products, agency work, or technology services.
An understanding of how digital products are designed, built, and launched, and the ability to hold an informed conversation with R&D, product, and IT leaders.
A background in project management or delivery is a plus: you know how projects actually run, what a realistic scope looks like, and what the buyer is up against.
A commitment to business development as your chosen career.
A social, outgoing nature. You're energized by meeting people and get out into the community without anyone having to push you.
Comfort with the grind: research, outreach, follow-up, persistence, and hearing no.
Web-savvy resourcefulness with LinkedIn, AI tools, and whatever else helps you find the right people and the right way in.
Clear, precise writing, including statements of work that both a client's leadership and the delivery team can stand behind.
Residence in the Grand Rapids area.
