Role Overview
As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll provide technical leadership across multiple teams, driving impact through deep technical expertise, strong collaboration, and engineering excellence. You'll shape and deliver scalable, secure platform capabilities while balancing hands-on engineering with technical strategy.

Responsibilities

• Influence architecture and design decisions spanning multiple teams
• Own and evolve critical platform areas including onboarding, developer tooling, authentication, and user management
• Identify technical risks and opportunities, leading initiatives for scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability
• Set engineering standards, patterns, and best practices
• Align technical strategy with delivery plans and team goals
• Translate product vision into technically sound, scalable solutions
• Resolve complex cross-team dependencies and tradeoffs
• Drive consistency across systems and experiences
• Design, implement, and review high-impact code in complex areas
• Lead technical discovery and execution for ambiguous initiatives
• Ensure solutions are well-tested, observable, and production-ready
• Mentor engineers in technical depth, system design, and impact
• Raise quality through code reviews, architectural guidance, and knowledge sharing
• Foster continuous improvement and technical curiosity
• Champion secure-by-design principles around authentication, authorization, and data access
• Ensure systems meet reliability, availability, and performance expectations
• Improve observability and operational readiness

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years developing complex software applications with demonstrated Staff-level impact
• Advanced experience with .NET Framework/C# and/or PHP, with strong OOP and architecture skills
• Strong experience with relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server preferred), including schema design and optimization
• Proven experience designing and operating cloud-based solutions on AWS
• Experience architecting scalable, distributed systems
• Deep understanding of SDLC and agile methodologies
• Strong security knowledge (OWASP, PCI DSS, SOC 2, HIPAA, or similar)
• Solid networking fundamentals (HTTPS, DNS, SSL/TLS)
• Deep knowledge of design patterns
• Proven ability to translate complex requirements into clear technical solutions
• Strong code review and quality standards experience
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical decisions
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience with remote and distributed teams
