Position Summary
The Mechanical Builder is responsible for the mechanical assembly of equipment according to detailed mechanical and assembly drawings. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, a focus on safety and quality, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical assembly of equipment in accordance with mechanical and assembly drawings using personal hand tools.
- Read and interpret part drawings, assembly drawings, and build documentation.
- Execute assigned tasks with minimal direct supervision while following established safety and quality standards.
- Document and communicate build changes, issues, and improvement opportunities.
- Communicate progress and open issues to the Machine Build Lead throughout the build process.
- Support successful execution of build programs related to cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of assigned work area.
- Assist the Lead Builder with coordinating project task lists, machine safety, machine quality, and adherence to build timelines.
- Coordinate secondary process pickup and delivery, including material finishing, heat treating, and deburring.
- Safely and effectively operate shop equipment, including:
- Mill
- Lathe
- Drill press
- Surface grinder
- Saws
- Shears
- Presses

- Proven mechanical aptitude with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to follow direction and complete assigned tasks effectively.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to provide and maintain personal hand tools and an appropriate toolbox for the role.
