Job Description

Position Summary
The Mechanical Builder is responsible for the mechanical assembly of equipment according to detailed mechanical and assembly drawings. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, a focus on safety and quality, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical assembly of equipment in accordance with mechanical and assembly drawings using personal hand tools.
  • Read and interpret part drawings, assembly drawings, and build documentation.
  • Execute assigned tasks with minimal direct supervision while following established safety and quality standards.
  • Document and communicate build changes, issues, and improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate progress and open issues to the Machine Build Lead throughout the build process.
  • Support successful execution of build programs related to cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of assigned work area.
  • Assist the Lead Builder with coordinating project task lists, machine safety, machine quality, and adherence to build timelines.
  • Coordinate secondary process pickup and delivery, including material finishing, heat treating, and deburring.
  • Safely and effectively operate shop equipment, including:
    • Mill
    • Lathe
    • Drill press
    • Surface grinder
    • Saws
    • Shears
    • Presses

Qualifications

  • Proven mechanical aptitude with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Ability to follow direction and complete assigned tasks effectively.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide and maintain personal hand tools and an appropriate toolbox for the role.
