Job Description

Software Test Technician

 

Key Responsibilities
Testing & Development:
• Conduct testing using procedures of varying complexity in accurate and timely manner
• Develop detailed reports describing analysis methods, data collected, and results achieved
• Make recommendations based on observed results

Technical Integration:
• Apply electronic, electrical, mechanical, and software/firmware principles in testing environment
• Demonstrate practical knowledge in embedded software system testing and IoT Cloud API testing
• Collaborate on test protocol development, product software design recommendations, and data analysis

Process Improvement:
• Use experience and technical knowledge to deliver creative solutions for internal laboratory processes
• Investigate feasibility of applying data acquisition and automation to manual test processes
• Attend design reviews to answer test-related questions

General Duties:
• Maintain objectivity in areas of conflicting departmental priority
• Follow direction from direct line manager
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements
Education:
• AAS in Software Applications Development, Electronic Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent with demonstrated experience
• Software Development, Electronics, or Robotics concentration preferred

Technical Skills:
• Ability to interpret engineering design documents (schematics, drawings, software code)
• Communications protocols interpretation preferred
• Demonstrated aptitude for testing electronic devices and their software
• Experience with embedded firmware and interaction between embedded firmware, IoT Cloud APIs, and application software
• Software and electronic circuit troubleshooting
• Consumer product disassembly and reassembly skills
• Soldering skills for board modification, component bypass, and repairs preferred

Professional Skills:
• Ability to prioritize and multitask multiple assignments
• Proficiency with standard laboratory test equipment (debugger/programmer, communications tracer/logger, oscilloscopes, multimeters, test instrumentation, hand tools)
