                                    Position Summary
The Field Service Manager (FSM) is responsible for overseeing and managing the activities of the Field Service Technicians in the Plymouth, MI area. This position ensures safe, timely, and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of gas delivery systems and related equipment at customer sites, while maintaining strong customer relationships and ensuring compliance with Airgas safety, quality, and operational standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily field service operations, including scheduling, technician support, and customer interface.
- Provide leadership, training, and performance management to the field service team to support operational goals and service excellence.
- Serve as point of escalation for complex technical and customer service issues in the field.
- Ensure all service work complies with internal safety policies, OSHA standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal departments (sales, operations, logistics, etc.) to ensure aligned service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Conduct regular site audits, job hazard analyses, and service quality reviews.
- Manage service records, technician reports, tool and part inventories, and equipment documentation.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and development of new field service personnel.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance service reliability and reduce operational costs.
- Travel within the region as required (typically 20-40%).
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in a technical or engineering field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of technical field service experience; 3+ years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with gas systems, piping, and pressure-related installations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with service management or CRM tools preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
