Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Millwright to join our foundry maintenance team. The Millwright will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical systems and heavy industrial equipment used in foundry operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring production efficiency, minimizing downtime, and supporting a safe work environment.
Install, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment, including furnaces, molding machines, conveyors, sand-handling systems, overhead cranes, hydraulic presses, and related foundry machinery.
Perform mechanical troubleshooting, precision alignment, and repair of rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, and couplings.
Execute preventative and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
Fabricate, weld, and machine components and replacement parts to support equipment maintenance.
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to complete equipment installation and repairs.
Safely rig, lift, and move heavy equipment using cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work orders, repairs, and parts usage.
Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify process improvements and equipment upgrades.
Adhere to all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and OSHA/foundry regulations.
High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or apprenticeship in industrial maintenance or millwrighting strongly preferred.
Minimum 6 years of experience as a Millwright, Maintenance Mechanic, or Industrial Technician in a foundry, steel mill, or heavy manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial machinery.
Proficiency in welding, fabrication, and machining techniques.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Skilled in safe rigging, hoisting, and alignment of heavy equipment.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in hot, dusty, and physically demanding environments.
Foundry environment with exposure to high temperatures, molten metal, dust, noise, and heavy industrial equipment.
Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including steel-toe boots, face shields, respirators, gloves, and protective clothing.
Shift flexibility required, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
