Position Scope
The Network Engineer role entails comprehensive management and oversight of the data center and access layer networks, which utilize a combination of Arista and Cisco hardware. This includes employing CloudVision for improved visibility and management across on-premises environments. The position requires automating routine tasks and maintenance workflows to enhance efficiency, using configuration management tools to maintain network uniformity, and monitoring configuration changes to safeguard network stability. Furthermore, the Network Engineer will be tasked with integrating network tools into monitoring and alert systems to proactively manage network health and security. This role also involves assessing and implementing infrastructure upgrades, adhering to ITIL best practices, and actively participating in strategic technology planning and projects within the Information Technology Network Services team.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support for Network Infrastructure:
- Assist in implementing and optimizing network solutions built on Cisco and Arista hardware.
- Support network system design, upkeep, and improvements to ensure performance and reliability.
Network Management:
- Aid in managing Cisco and Arista solutions across the Medical Center's networks, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Utilize tools, including Arista's CloudVision platform, to enhance visibility and control across both on-premises and cloud-based networks.
Network System Operations:
- Help maintain network stability, performance, and security through effective operation and maintenance of network monitoring systems.
- Assist in resolving network issues and ensuring seamless data center network operations.
Network Planning and Implementation:
- Contribute to analyzing and planning for network infrastructure scaling and implementation.
- Support the integration and optimization of network environments to ensure scalability and performance improvements.
Upgrades and Maintenance:
- Participate in the upgrading of network hardware, software, and support systems, following ITIL/ITSM standards to continuously enhance network infrastructure.
Project Collaboration:
- Engage in network systems projects that integrate with business and IT solutions.
- Help evaluate network products and workflows to advance the organization’s network capabilities.
Technical Support and Guidance:
- Provide technical support and expertise in network systems.
- Work to align network systems with IT and business objectives in support of strategic initiatives.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support the data center, enterprise networks, and other network services across the Medical Center, ensuring 24x7 availability and optimal performance.
