Job Description
One Tech Engineering is searching for an Environmental Scientist Assistant for a position located in Portland, Maine; Wallingford, Connecticut; or Newton, Massachusetts. The Environmental Scientist Assistant will assist the Permitting Team in conducting environmental and siting studies, prepare permitting applications and analyze environmental data for various types of projects, including high-voltage transmission line routing, power generation construction activities and water treatment facilities.
The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related, and a year of relevant experience.
Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.
Environmental Scientist Assistant Responsibilities:
- Assist in conducting field surveys and assessments and collecting project-related data for analysis in environmental impact projects.
- Assist in preparation of technical reports, environmental impact statements and environmental field studies.
- Provide assistance in utilizing GIS data for map production in accordance with standards and industry practices.
- Assist with performing environmental site investigations, support erosion control efforts and subsurface soil sampling.
- Assist in conducting environmental compliance audits.
- Assist in permit applications to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Support site selection studies and preparation of related National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation.
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements of the Environmental Scientist Assistant:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science or a related natural science degree from an accredited program.
- At least 1 year of experience in a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic knowledge of environmental site assessment methods, environmental compliance and compliance audits, and the environmental permitting process.
- Knowledge of GPS and working in the ArcGIS desktop environment.
- Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
