Job Description
One Tech Engineering is searching for an Electrical Engineer for a position located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the drafting and design of engineering deliverables on complex utility distribution and substation design projects and requires interface with utility clients and collaboration across multiple offices.
The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of electrical engineering experience (consulting preferred).
Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.
Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:
- Provide development and design services on 7.2kV-345kV protection and control projects for utility applications.
- Develop electrical one-line drawings, protection system architecture, electrical network system architecture, detailed physical layouts, construction drawings and programming.
- Select and specify equipment and materials; prepare cost estimates and bills of material.
- Design control buildings, including AC and DC panels, batteries, and chargers.
- Prepare bid and construction contract documents.
- Implement and upgrade Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
- Oversee switchgear, bus work, recloser, and circuit breaker control and operation.
- Perform CT sizing and selection.
- Design relay panels and associated wiring.
- Provide advanced comprehension of protective relay applications (SEL, GE, Basler, ABB)
- Conduct assigned project work and coordinates with team members to ensure compliance with project schedules.
- Makes design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications for electrical protection systems.
- Performs calculations using engineering formulas and skills involved in the resolution of design problems, including performing field investigation or observation and detailed quality control and quality assurance (QC/QA) review of design calculations.
- Design facilities utilizing client standards.
- Prepare equipment specifications.
- Regularly meet and correspond with clients or outside personnel.
Requirements of the Electrical Engineer:- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of electrical engineering experience (consulting preferred).
- Or a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of electrical engineering experience (consulting preferred).
- Or a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and 2 years of electrical engineering experience (consulting preferred).
- PE License or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred (or desire to obtain).
- Knowledge of substation protection and control schemes, basic relay settings, and substation construction standards and methods.
- Desire to gain knowledge of Engineering Standards including NEC, API, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI.
- Capable of successfully solving difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
