Job Description

Our client has a very exciting opportunity for a Seawater Technology Manager to join their team based in Houston, but with flexible working options. The Business line designs, engineers and fabricates specialist oil, gas, water and solids processing equipment packages and facilities. These packages vary in size and complexity from retrofits and single purpose packages to integrated multiple process packages installed on multi deck modules up to 3000t for both onshore and offshore facilities.

The Seawater Technology Manager is critical to the Midstream business as they own the technology, engage greatly with customers, ensure value added offerings meet customer needs and ensure the technology is progressed and sustained for the future. They are responsible for winning as well as executing work and greatly contribute to the sales, revenue, profit of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Product Development (NPD) & Sustaining
    • Recommend new product developments to existing or new technologies
    • Be involved with the NPD process and contribute/review as required
    • Develop and manage the sustaining plans for all Seawater technologies
  • Early Engagement
    • Present at trade shows
    • Visit customers with Sales to promote technologies
    • Work with customers to develop their specifications that align with our products
    • Engage with associations, or and present technical authority/knowledge
  • Tendering
    • Screening of all requests for quotation to ensure technology capability and value proposition
    • Selection and sizing of technology to meet customer requirements
    • Ensuring the latest technology including digital enablement is being proposed
    • Work on or assign to team technical tendering activities
    • Lead technically or participate in technical clarification meetings with customers, sub-suppliers and 3rd parties
  • Execution
    • Assign SME’s from the team to support the project during execution
    • Ensure the process technology being applied is valid
    • Participate in process peer reviews, HAZOPs and other design reviews
    • Meet with customers as required to propose solutions to project technical challenges or protect contract positions
    • Undertake lessons learned and generate improvements in products through NPD or sustaining activities
  • Aftermarket/Services
    • Undertake or assign RCA to warranty claims
    • Provide technical support to retrofit and upgrade projects
    • Support services team with customer site visits as required
  • People Management
    • Manage a small global team of subject matter experts based in Houston and UK and functionally a team in India
    • Provide coaching, training and mentoring
    • Assess team skills/competencies and create individual development plans
    • Day to day management of the team

Preferred Experience:

  • Industrial water treatment and water chemistry with a particular focus on treating Sea Water for biofoulants, dissolved oxygen, and suspended or dissolved solids reduction with both traditional and membrane-based treatment systems.
  • Water treatment chemical injection systems and chemicals compatibility.
  • Corrosion control and materials selection
  • Preferred PE/Chartered Engineer Status.
  • Awareness of national and international codes and standards for oil field process equipment design, field installation and start-up procedures.
  • Highly competent in process equipment design and sizing.
  • Some hands-on site experience with field start-up/trials and troubleshooting.
  • Working within multi-disciplinary engineering and project execution teams.
  • 10 years experience.
