Position:  Data Center Field Technician

Location: Boston, MA

Duration: 3-month W2 contract

W2 Pay Rate: $50.00/hr.

Description:
We are looking for an experienced Data Center Technician to assist in an ongoing project downtown Boston.

Responsibilities:

• Data center remote/smart hands support
• Rack and stack of switches, routers, servers, and related equipment
• Copper and fiber patching
• Fiber inspection and troubleshooting
• OTDR testing and capturing traces/results
• Live-fiber/traffic verification before removing existing fiber patches
• Adding network/data center capacity
• Cable and patch labeling
• Working through scheduled work orders and ticket backlogs
• Supporting remote network engineers during troubleshooting
• Providing clear status updates, photos, test results, and ticket documentation

• Data center and/or telecom environments Fiber optic infrastructure Copper and fiber patching Rack-and-stack Network equipment installation Basic physical network troubleshooting OTDR operation Fiber inspection Safe identification of active/live fiber

Required Experience: 

• Hands-on experience with OTDR testing, optical power meters, OLTS, and fiber inspection scopes
• Minimum 1+ year of Fiber Field Technician, Optical Transport Technician, Telecom Technician, or Data Center Technician experience
• Strong experience installing, testing, troubleshooting, and restoring single-mode fiber (SMF) networks
• Working knowledge of DWDM networks, wavelength services, and optical transport environments
• Experience coordinating troubleshooting and maintenance with NOCs, transport engineers, and remote support teams
• Experience supporting optical circuit turn-ups, activations, migrations, and service restorations
