Estate Planning Attorney

We are seeking an entry level to experienced Estate Planning Attorney to join the team of our client in Erie, Pennsylvania.

The successful candidate will counsel individuals, families, and business owners on a broad range of estate planning matters, including the preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and other wealth preservation strategies. This attorney will work closely with clients to develop customized estate plans, advise on tax-efficient transfer strategies, and collaborate with the firm's Estate Administration Department to ensure seamless implementation of clients' long-term objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients to assess estate planning goals and develop tailored strategies.
  • Draft and review estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related documents.
  • Advise clients on estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning.
  • Counsel individuals, families, business owners, and high-net-worth clients on wealth preservation and succession planning.
  • Assist clients with business succession planning, charitable giving strategies, and asset protection planning.
  • Collaborate with attorneys and paralegals on estate and trust administration matters when needed.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional communication and service.
  • Stay current on changes in Pennsylvania and federal estate planning laws and tax regulations.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and in good standing.
  • Three (3) or more years of estate planning experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting sophisticated estate planning documents and advising clients on estate planning strategies.
  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania probate and trust law, federal estate and gift tax laws, and fiduciary principles.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, drafting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a client-focused approach.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice management software.
