IT Technician

Pay Rate: $24.00/HR W2

Hours:  M-F, 8:30am-5am  

Location:  Erlanger, KY   

Duration: 3+ months, likely conversion to permanent

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Point of Sale (POS) and Retail IT Staging and Kitting Technician to join our growing team. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth and efficient deployment of all customer systems to various client locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of IT hardware and software, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality results.

The POS / Retail IT Staging and Kitting Technician is responsible for preparing and configuring hardware and software prior to installation at client sites. This includes receiving, inspecting, staging, imaging, configuring, and kitting all necessary components. The technician will also maintain accurate records of inventory and completed kits.

• Receive, inspect, and inventory incoming hardware (terminals, printers, scanners, scales, etc.).
• Stage hardware in preparation for configuration and kitting.
• Image POS terminals and other devices with appropriate operating systems and software.
• Configure POS software settings according to client specifications.
• Assemble complete POS kits, including all necessary hardware, cables, and documentation.
• Test all hardware and software components to ensure functionality.
• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues during the staging process.
• Maintain accurate records of inventory, staged equipment, and completed kits.
• Collaborate with other team members and project managers to ensure timely deployments.
• Adhere to company standards and best practices for staging and kitting.
• Keep the staging area clean, organized, and safe.
• Assist with the disposal of obsolete or returned equipment.
• Potentially deliver and/or install POS systems at client sites.
• Stay up-to-date on the latest POS hardware and software technologies.

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or associate's degree in IT preferred.

• Proven experience in IT hardware and software configuration, preferably with POS systems.
• Strong understanding of computer operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.) and networking concepts.
• Experience with imaging software and deployment tools.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues effectively.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.  
• Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with specific POS software platforms (e.g., Toshiba, IBM, NCR).
• Experience with scripting or automation tools.
• CompTIA A+ certification.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Retail Technology Installation
• Minimum 2 years of Retail store experience

• Must be able to pass a 10-panel drug-test, criminal background check
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate (verbal & written) professionally in English
