Position:  IT Engineering Manager

Location:  Cleveland, OH (remote available with monthly onsite meetings)

Duration:  Full time, W2

Description:

We are looking for an IT Engineering Manager to lead the technical development of the platform for our client, a fintech company. Your goal will be to direct the evolution of a modern financial management platform and complimentary architecture and technologies to deliver on strategic business objectives.

The core responsibilities will focus on developing, managing and directing a 16-person team (locally and globally), with a priority on product delivery in an Agile fashion.  You will harmonize interfaces between components developed by various teams to ensure a cohesive execution. Other top duties will be full automated deployments, feature flags management, and other improvements

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide vision and strategic leadership to oversee the ongoing development of a comprehensive technology architecture
  • Ensure that all systems documentation is comprehensive and up to date, including detailed technical diagrams, descriptive wikis, and other infrastructure necessary to support technical development objectives
  • Propose and deliver technology projects which support the long-term business goals and features necessary feedback and features
  • Provide guidance to several squads in an Agile framework including optimizing the development workflow and deployment processes for engineering team members
  • Support decision making process with relevant technical feedback on tool development, new component technology adoption, and standardization of internal applications
  • Support the firm’s corporate IT and network responsibilities and relationship with outsourced IT department vendors
  • Participate in business planning meetings to advise upon technical considerations to the firm’s strategic goals
  • Serve as lead technical officer and data privacy officer for external due diligence reviews, including SOC2 audits and ongoing compliance controls
  • Support necessary corporate IT policy development and monitoring, including access control frameworks and provisioning policies
  • Partner and work alongside COO to ensure strategic goals and operations are delivered in alignment with the firm’s broader strategic objectives
  • Partner with IT architect and senior engineers to ensure data flow and user flow diagrams are aligned and technology remains internally flexible for business objectives both current and future
  • Ensure written requirements for new development have supporting system design and detailed technical diagrams showing architecture support and scale
  • Identify and raise concerns regarding technical limitations, resource contention, and cost risks associated with any project
  • Support firm’s compliance and privacy requirements as a SEC registered investment advisor as part of solution design, including PII protections and other necessary safeguards

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of developing & shipping enterprise applications in an IT Architect or technical lead capacity. Python/Django/PostgreSQL/High-Availability Infrastructure experience will be most relevant for this role
  • Experience managing cloud apps/infrastructure, especially Google Cloud and Azure
  • Experience with 12-factor/OWASP best-practices & SOC2 audit controls
  • Deep understanding of Relational Database modeling/optimization, Object Relational Models (ORMs), and other ETL components to support robust architectures for financial service interoperability and legacy data access
  • Preferred to have 2+ years of financial services industry experience
  • Familiarity with transactional data and position data sets
  • Demonstrate exceptional qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Fluent articulation of how new technology will provide measurable results and business value through quantitative (KPI driven) and qualitative (user pain point / journey improvements)
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills to work independently day-to-day and support broad firm goals over long term
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to participate in complex business logic conversations with both technology and business stakeholders
  • Ongoing cultivation of thriving, cross-functional, high-performance, personnel- developmental culture across all engineering teams
