Role: Control System Engineer
Location: McArthur River, SK
Contract Duration: 06/16/2026 to 12/31/2026
Reporting to the chief engineer, maintenance, the successful candidate will be executing and managing OT (operational technology) control systems and industrial processes with a focus on safety, asset reliability, uptime, and real-time operations.
In this role, you will:
• Develop, maintain, optimize, design, and manage the industrial process control system such as PLC, DCS systems, OT networking and cyber security, and communication systems to make the system reliable.
• Maintain and improve the plant’s automation systems.
• Manage small sustaining projects related to control system upgrade or new automation.
• Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC and DCS systems.
• Test, modify and update PLC and DCS programs and verify functionality.
• Integrate vendor equipment into the mining process control system.
• Diagnose failures in instrumentation and control systems including board level troubleshooting where appropriate.
• Coordinate with instrument and control technologists to identify the bottlenecks in instrumentation and control system and improve the system where appropriate.
• Collaborate with corporate IT, OT, and process control teams to develop solutions & implement as required.
• Maintain site standards for instrumentation, control hardware, and electronic components.
• Maintain accurate documentation, configurations, and system practices aligned with reliability and cybersecurity requirements.
• Ensure the industrial process control system is following corporate and regulatory standards.
• Act as the site contact, and subject matter expert for larger design/installation projects related to the industrial process control system being managed by major projects team.
• Assess the Safety Program and implement improvements.
• Facilitate inspections, internal audits and incident investigations.
Required:
• work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft. (site positions only)
• bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or related discipline;
• five to eight years of experience with industrial control systems;
• eligible for registration with the association of professional engineers and geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS);
• strong communication and problem-solving skills;
• experience in the field of industrial control and/or operational technology systems, including PLC, HMI, DCS, networking, communication, and architecture management with good design and troubleshooting abilities;
• experience with industrial instrumentation and industrial data protocols, networking, including configuration of switches, firewalls, and hardware to support industrial communication protocols; and
• work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft.
Recommended:
• familiarity with modern maintenance systems, methodologies, and reliability-focused technologies;
• experience working in an industrial mining or mineral processing environment;
• hands-on experience with Foxboro, Schneider, or comparable industrial control and automation platforms; and
• proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), preference for SAP experience.
