Contract Duration: March 16, 2026 – September 11, 2026
Work Location: 1 day per week in office at BC Hydro’s 333 Dunsmuir location
Max Rate:
$85.21/hr (T4)
$103.11/hr (Incorporated)
The E4 – Engineer is a professional engineer or geoscientist who applies engineering knowledge to provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium-complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.
Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.
Develop safe engineering solutions using initiative and judgment to perform tasks including:
Developing designs
Analyzing and resolving technical problems
Interpreting engineering specifications
Supporting medium-complexity BC Hydro projects and operations
Support project/operations management in achieving safety, cost, quality, and schedule objectives by:
Proposing plan and cost changes
Recommending contractor payments
Preparing progress reports
Coordinating work schedules
Resolve complex technical design and field engineering issues through independent studies and analysis.
Exercise sound engineering judgment to recommend safe, practical designs that support successful project completion and operations.
All required experience and accountabilities must relate to drafting work using AutoCAD, Inventor, MicroStation, and SolidWorks.
Support the creation and revision of engineering drawings used in Distribution Engineering Standards.
Develop standards used by internal and external stakeholders for design and construction of Overhead and Underground Distribution Systems.
Produce 2D and 3D drawings using various CAD applications.
Collaborate with Distribution Standards Engineers to accurately create and revise graphical representations of distribution equipment and structures.
Create Standards pages for review and acceptance.
Create and update Metering One-Line drawings for large customer revenue metering projects.
Prepare drafting packages for vendor tendering.
Experience performing computer-aided standards drafting within a utility or similar industry.
BC Hydro Distribution experience (preferred).
Strong background in 3D modelling (preferred).
Experience designing, building, or implementing updates to information catalogs.
Ability to structure complex technical information.
Experience developing metadata models.
Ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, compliance, and IT teams.
Strong analytical skills.
Systems-thinking mindset.
Ability to translate engineering knowledge into organized, searchable, and sustainable information assets.
Experience contributing to short-term, high-impact information governance initiatives.
Background improving enterprise information catalog usability or organization.
Experience supporting improved decision-making, operational efficiency, or knowledge stewardship through structured information systems.
