Location: Lower Mainland, BC
Contract Duration: 12 months
Maximum T4 Rate: $89.35/hour
Maximum INC Rate: $108.11/hour
Develop commissioning plans, coordinate testing and commissioning activities, and ensure that all outages, personnel, and documentation are in place to support execution of the test program for projects in the Lower Mainland region.
Minimum 8 years of experience in a relevant engineering field.
Develop safe and practical engineering solutions using sound judgment across medium complexity assignments.
Support project and operations teams to meet safety, cost, quality, and schedule objectives through progress tracking, payment recommendations, and coordination.
Resolve complex field and design engineering issues through independent analysis and technical decision-making.
Provide guidance to junior engineers and contribute to the development of technical standards and practices.
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC (EGBC), or eligible for registration.
Digital seal subscription (e.g., Notarius) may be required.
Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards.
Proficient in standard design/analysis software and intermediate MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Demonstrated experience in electrical utility substation design (12kV to 500kV).
Experience with capital projects, emergency replacement/restoration, asset management initiatives, and Owner’s Engineer reviews.
Prepare engineering documentation including reports, specifications, design bases, hazard logs, estimates, and test plans.
Deliver signed/sealed engineering packages as Professional of Record (PoR) in accordance with EGBC.
Perform field reviews and provide technical support during construction and commissioning.

Electrical equipment supports
Engineering calculations: short-circuit forces, ampacity, cable sizing, lightning protection, voltage drop, lighting design (indoor/outdoor)
Prepare and compile multidisciplinary commissioning test plans and requirements documentation.
Coordinate and oversee all technical aspects of field engineering for construction and commissioning of electrical and Protection & Control (P&C) equipment.
Resolve field engineering issues by coordinating between design engineers and contractors.
Provide support to field technologists (CPC), review P&C/equipment installations, and perform or delegate field reviews.
Conduct or oversee inspection/test plans for factory/site acceptance tests.
Confirm tests and inspections are properly executed and documented.
Manage technical documentation including redlines, RFIs, NCRs, and contribute to construction reporting.
Strong problem-solving and consensus-building abilities
Capable of managing design tasks (scope, cost, schedule)
Effective communication (verbal and technical writing)
Experience in project management including estimating and cost control
Ability to coordinate special testing requirements and system operating procedures
Knowledge of best practices for P&C testing/commissioning
Field experience and familiarity with fault analysis and investigations
