Location: Mica, BC
Contract Duration: 12 months
Max INC Rate: $85/hour
Insurance Requirement:
$5M Commercial General Liability (CGL)
$2M Personal Liability (approx. $12/week)
Provide project controls support and help build the construction program for the Mica and REV6 Program. Responsibilities include planning, estimating, scheduling, and coordinating field activities related to construction.
Prepare detailed cost estimates considering engineering specs and contract terms.
Analyze labor and equipment requirements to optimize costs and scheduling impacts.
Conduct quantity takeoffs and perform direct cost calculations using unit costs or base data.
Apply overhead markups to ensure cost recovery.
Develop work schedules and coordinate field activities for assigned projects.
Review drawings/specs and prepare procurement documentation for materials and equipment.
Operate electrical testing equipment and prepare technical field reports.
Maintain up-to-date records for equipment and material costs, as well as production rates.
Monitor project cost/progress reports and assess impacts of schedule changes.
Support bid and subcontract processes by compiling item schedules and verifying quantity/cost data.
Provide technical coordination and advice to field crews and contractors.
Participate in project teams and support construction site activities.
Perform related duties as required.
Strong expertise in one discipline (Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical) with working knowledge of at least one other.
Familiarity with applicable codes and standards.
Solid understanding of generation, substation, transmission, and distribution construction practices.
Ability to coordinate and direct field trades.
Knowledge of project management principles, basic accounting, and contract preparation.
Proficiency with construction and project management software (estimating, scheduling, costing).
Basic drafting and design skills.
Strong analytical, estimating, and scheduling capabilities.
Effective communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Competency in preparing technical reports and documentation.
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
Diploma of Technology or Degree in a construction-related field such as:
Engineering
Forestry
Architecture
Project Management
Construction Management
Business Administration
Quantity Surveying
Alternatively, a related trades qualification (e.g., Electrician, Winder, Power Line Technician, General Trades, Millwright).
Minimum 5 years of experience in construction and/or project management.
