Location: Knoxville, TN 37902
Work Environment: Onsite | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay Range: $105,000+

Position Overview

M Force Partners is seeking a Senior Structural Designer to support the development of structural systems and components for complex industrial and government projects. This position will be responsible for producing detailed structural models, construction drawings, layouts, details, and design documentation for new construction, facility modifications, and existing facilities.

The ideal Senior Structural Designer has 7+ years of structural design and drafting experience with strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD. This individual should have a strong understanding of structural steel, concrete, foundations, equipment supports, platforms, stairs, ladders, and miscellaneous metals within complex industrial environments.

The Senior Structural Designer will work closely with structural engineers and multidisciplinary project teams while utilizing tools including Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks Manage, Autodesk ReCap, and Autodesk Vault. Experience supporting DOE, DoD, nuclear, or other highly regulated projects is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed structural design and construction drawings for industrial and government facilities
  • Produce structural plans, elevations, sections, details, and layouts
  • Develop and maintain accurate 3D structural models using Revit
  • Produce detailed 2D structural drawings using AutoCAD
  • Develop structural framing, equipment supports, platforms, stairs, ladders, foundations, steel connections, and other structural components under the direction of structural engineers
  • Interpret structural engineering calculations, specifications, sketches, field measurements, and design criteria
  • Translate engineering requirements into accurate structural drawings and 3D models
  • Coordinate structural designs with mechanical, electrical, civil, process, and other engineering disciplines
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts through multidisciplinary coordination
  • Participate in model coordination, clash detection, and design reviews using Navisworks Manage
  • Utilize Autodesk Vault to support document, drawing, and design-file management
  • Utilize Autodesk ReCap and point-cloud data to support existing-condition modeling and facility documentation
  • Develop as-built and retrofit designs using field measurements, laser scanning, and point-cloud information
  • Participate in site visits, field surveys, walkdowns, and existing-condition verification
  • Develop and update facility models and drawings based on field data
  • Assist structural engineers with design development, drawing production, material takeoffs, and technical documentation
  • Review structural drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, constructability, and compliance with project requirements
  • Coordinate with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical and design issues
  • Interpret and apply applicable Federal, State, and Local codes and standards, including DOE requirements where applicable
  • Maintain accurate 2D and 3D structural design documentation
  • Organize and prioritize design activities to meet project schedules, budgets, and deadlines

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant structural design and drafting experience
  • Strong working proficiency with Revit for structural design and 3D modeling
  • Strong working proficiency with AutoCAD for structural drafting and detailed drawing development
  • Demonstrated experience producing detailed structural design and construction drawings for industrial facilities or similarly complex environments
  • Strong understanding of structural drafting and design fundamentals
  • Experience with structural steel, concrete, foundations, equipment supports, platforms, stairs, ladders, and miscellaneous metals
  • Ability to interpret structural engineering calculations, specifications, sketches, field measurements, and technical requirements
  • Ability to translate engineering direction into accurate structural drawings and models
  • Experience coordinating structural designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes, structural standards, and industry practices
  • Ability to produce and maintain detailed 2D and 3D engineering documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting defined project schedules
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with structural engineers and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Ability to provide examples of previous structural design work
  • Ability to successfully complete required drug screening
  • Must meet ITAR U.S. Person requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or site badge if required
  • Ability to work onsite in Knoxville, TN, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Structural Design, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field
  • Experience supporting DOE, DoD, nuclear, or other highly regulated projects
  • Experience working within industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, process facilities, or high-hazard environments
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault for controlled document and design-file management
  • Experience using Navisworks Manage for multidisciplinary model coordination, clash detection, and design review
  • Experience using Autodesk ReCap and point-cloud data for existing-condition modeling
  • Experience working with laser scanning and point-cloud information
  • Experience supporting existing facility retrofit and modification projects
  • Experience using Revit for structural modeling within a multidisciplinary design environment
  • Field, construction, or fabrication experience
  • Experience with structural steel detailing and connections
  • Experience with concrete structures, foundations, and equipment supports
  • Experience participating in site walkdowns and field verification
  • Experience working directly with structural engineers with limited supervision
