LRS Consulting Services is seeking a Mainframe Programmer for a 100% remote contract opportunity with our client in Texas.

We are looking for a Mainframe Programmer with 10+ years mainframe experience utilizing ASSEMBLER, VSAM and other mainframe tools. Experience in DOS/VSE environment preferred. Mainframe conversion experience highly desirable.

Your Responsibilities:

• Learn and maintain legacy systems
• Develop and support custom applications
• Coding fixes and new software development
• Familiarity with one or more programming languages
• Familiarity with standard development techniques (SDLC, OOD)

You Must Have:

• 10+ years mainframe experience utilizing ASSEMBLER, VSAM and other mainframe tools
• Ability to handle and keep track of a multitude of assignments at one time
• Attention to detail, excellent organization skills and a sense of urgency
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Solid analytical, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
• Enjoys working as part of a team
• Seeking self-starter with unyielding work ethic and motivation to learn a competitive business.
• Excellent communication/documentation skills
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks

• Strong analyzing and problem-solving abilities

We Would Also Prefer:

• Print and mail experience
• Experience in DOS/VSE environment; Quikjob a plus.
• Mainframe conversion experience highly desirable.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or science-related area
