KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages commercial and residential purchase, sale, and financing transactions with minimal supervision from the Partner
Handles the preparation of documentation for purchase, sale and financing transactions (both lender and borrower-side) where lands are slated for redevelopment or commercial properties
Prepares reporting letters and accounts to clients
Performs title and off-title searches, and notifies the Partner of any problems found with titles
Prepares and registers various documents in Teraview including Transfers, Charges, Easements, Notices, Discharges, etc.
Communicates with clients and other lawyer’s offices on a daily basis
Supervises junior law clerks and legal assistants in the department, ensuring high standard of work is maintained at all times
Organizes and maintains physical and electronic files
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING:
A post-secondary diploma in a related Legal Administration and/or Law Clerk program or equivalent years of experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position in a Commercial or Residential Real Estate Law practice, closing large and mid-sized transactions
Candidates who can demonstrate solid experience in handing commercial real estate transactions are strongly preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Conveyancer, PC Law and Teraview
Excellent organization and time-management skills
Ability to work independently, accurately, and efficiently on multiple files with strong attention to detail
Ability to effectively supervise, and provide support for, junior staff
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrates a professional demeanour, high ethical standards, respect and commitment to excellent client service
