Requirements:

• Current certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists required
• Minimum one year hospital surgical background preferred
• High School graduate or equivalent (GED)
• Successful completion of Surgical Technologist Course or equivalent experience
• Possess a basic and thorough knowledge of the functions and philosophies of the OR Department
• Demonstrate knowledge of asepsis and sterile techniques
• Ability to work swiftly and skillfully under stressful circumstances
• Ability to work with a myriad of physicians
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment
• Ability to lift forty (40) pounds from floor to waist, and from chair to bed level.
• Ability to pull fifty (50) pounds from stretcher to bed
• Ability to push fifty (50) pound stretcher 300 feet
• Ability to lift five (5) pounds overhead
• Demonstrates accurate judgment and decision-making ability consistent with Surgical Technologists knowledge and skills
