The Systems Architect will use a variety of hardware to build and maintain cloud infrastructure, including servers, storage devices, network equipment, and virtualization software. They will also be leading other architects and communicating with multiple stakeholders. They will report to Jimel Williams at our Albany location.
Day to Day Tasks
The System Architect Will Lead the design, development, and implementation of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) solutions. Define cloud strategy and architecture to align with IES business goals and objectives. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Architect and design scalable, secure, and high-performance GPC environments. Create detailed architecture diagrams, design documents, and implementation plans for GPC projects. Evaluate and recommend new cloud services and technologies to enhance infrastructure capabilities. Oversee the deployment, configuration, and management of GPC resources, including computing, storage, networking, and databases. Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) scripts using tools like Ansible to automate provisioning and configuration. Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure for cost and performance. Conduct regular performance assessments and implement improvements to ensure efficient resource utilization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and operations, to ensure seamless integration and operation of cloud solutions. Provide expert-level support and troubleshooting for complex cloud infrastructure issues. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for cloud infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures. Conduct training sessions and workshops for team members and stakeholders on GPC best practices and new technologies.
Mandatory Qualifications
Systems Architect - Defines the architecture of a computerized system (i.e., a system composed of software and hardware) in order to fulfill certain requirements, including a breakdown of the system into components, the component interactions and interfaces (including with the environment, especially the user), and the technologies and resources to be used in the design.
Expert - 84+ Months: Candidate is able to provide guidance to large teams and/or has extensive industry experience and is considered at the top of his/her field.
Requested Qualifications
- 84 months of experience working with Google/AWS Cloud platform automation in an SRE or DevOps organization.
- 60 months of hands-on experience as a Java Lead and/or Java Architect
- 36 months experience in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (Deep understanding of cloud networking, storage, and computing concepts
- 12 months of experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana).
- 12 Months experience as an enterprise architect or principal engineer in a role focusing on cloud infrastructure.
- 12 Months Extensive experience in designing, deploying, and managing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS) solutions.
