The Construction Coordinator is responsible for observing and supporting construction activities performed by assigned contractors at company facilities. This role ensures that work is performed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards. The coordinator also acts as a liaison between contractors and internal departments, identifying issues and facilitating communication to ensure the successful execution of projects.
LEXINGTON, KY
We are looking for a skilled communicator who can work effectively with minimal supervision. Experience in building renovation, asbestos removal, architectural design, fire protection systems, and underground utilities is preferred.
Observe contractor construction activities and ensure safety protocols and industry best practices are being followed.
Monitor contractor performance and recommend corrective actions when safety or quality concerns are identified.
Identify construction performance issues and collaborate with management and engineering teams to resolve them.
Ensure contractor adherence to schedule, specifications, and quality expectations.
Review and comment on project design documents as needed.
Foster positive working relationships with stakeholders, including contractors, customers, and internal departments.
Document daily contractor activities, including written summaries and photographs.
Coordinate work between multiple contractors and Company operations.
Ensure accurate and thorough daily field observations and reports.
Enforce compliance with company policies, such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hot work, confined space, and other safety procedures.
Serve as a point of contact between contractors and other departments impacted by construction activities (e.g., safety, scheduling, material delivery, site regulations).
Perform miscellaneous administrative and field support duties as assigned.
Comply with all company policies and standards.
Experience: 10 years of supervisory or project experience preferred, particularly in civil, electrical, mechanical, operations, or QA/QC.
Certifications: Strong preference for project management certification or equivalent technical training.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong leadership and above-average communication skills.
Advanced understanding of OSHA regulations and construction site safety.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with contractors and internal stakeholders.
Proficiency in construction quality standards, materials, and installation methods.
Familiarity with equipment erection and construction techniques.
Proficiency with standard software applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
Work Environment:
This role is primarily field-based, with significant time spent walking, standing, and observing construction activities in outdoor environments. Conditions may include uneven terrain, exposure to dust, and lifting of materials up to 50 lbs.
