Job Description

 
As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will collaborate across disciplines to design and deliver high-performance mechanical systems for a variety of building types. You will translate engineering concepts into fully coordinated solutions aligned with project goals, budgets, and timelines. Through strong communication and technical expertise, you will contribute to impactful projects while building trusted relationships with clients and project teams.

Deliver Results

  • Develop mechanical system designs including load analysis, equipment sizing, ductwork, hydronic, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Coordinate mechanical design efforts through schematic design, design development, and construction documentation phases.
  • Conduct field investigations, site visits, and project meetings alongside Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Utilize design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and BSD SpecLink to produce accurate models and construction documents.
  • Collaborate with internal disciplines and external consultants to ensure coordinated, conflict-free project documentation.
  • Support QA/QC processes and ensure deliverables align with Progressive standards, project budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist in proposal development and support monitoring of project scope, budget, and schedule with the Senior Mechanical Engineer.
  • Communicate changes in scope, risks, or budget impacts to project leadership in a timely manner.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and demonstrate responsiveness and technical confidence in your area of expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited or equivalent) and Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 5+ years of experience designing mechanical systems for building projects.
  • Proven experience with load calculations, equipment sizing, and HVAC/mechanical system design.
  • Strong knowledge of construction documentation, QA/QC processes, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in Revit and/or AutoCAD; working knowledge of standard design tools and Microsoft Office.
