Healthcare Mechanical Engineer II

As a Healthcare Mechanical Engineer II, you will support our Health and Wellness team working on a variety of project types and sizes. You will have the opportunity to support plumbing, med-gas, and fire protection design as well as performing calculations, providing equipment selection, and supplying construction assistance for submittals and RFI’s. This role will entail a high level of collaboration with other internal disciplines, external consultants, and clients or owner’s representatives.

 

Deliver Results 

  • Prepare building models, detailed contract documents, construction documents, load analysis, equipment sizing, ductwork sizing, hydronic system design, plumbing design, fire suppression design, and specifications consistent with Progressive AE’s standards.    
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance. 
  • Determine and promote the best use of design software/technology, including Revit, AutoCAD, BSD Speclink and other emerging technologies, for presentation and production purposes.   
  • Coordinate technical components of projects with other internal disciplines and outside consultants to ensure that conflicts do not exist in the documents. 
  • Assist with engineering proposals and monitoring project budget and schedule.

Required Qualifications 

  • Associate's Degree in engineering, drafting, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of post-graduate mechanical engineering design experience, including a strong background with healthcare projects.
  • Ability to obtain Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Strong proficiency with Revit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with current license.
  • Experience with acute care, surgery centers, or behavioral health projects.
  • Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD), ASSE 6060 Designer, or CSI-CDT.
  • LEED AP BD+C and WELL AP certification.
  • Membership at organizations such as American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE), Healthcare Engineering Alliance Society (HEALS), or similar and their local chapters.
  • NCEES registration or NSPE membership.
  • Experience in Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and Teams.
