Mechanical Engineer – HVAC Plumbing  

Charlotte, NC ● Detroit, MI

 Make an Impact 

As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will generate and translate mechanical systems into final solutions for various project building types. You will design and develop mechanical systems, including load analysis, equipment sizing, ductwork sizing, fire protection, plumbing and hydronic systems. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide technical design expertise and assistance during the various phases of projects. 

Deliver Results

  • Coordinate the work of the mechanical design team through all phases, including schematic design development and construction document production.
  • Determine and promote the best use of design software/technology, including Revit, AutoCAD, BSD Speclink, and other emerging technologies, for presentation and production purposes. 
  • Prepare building models, detailed contract documents, construction documents, load analysis, equipment sizing, ductwork sizing, hydronic system design, plumbing design, fire suppression design, and specifications consistent with our standards.   
  • Conduct work sessions or meetings at project site, as needed.
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited program or equivalent in education and experience required for professional licensure.   
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with current license OR ability to obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • 5+ years of AE mechanical engineering with a wide variety of project types.
  • Experience designing HVAC systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Revit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • NCEES registration and NSPE membership.
  • CSI-CDT certification.
  • LEED AP BD+C and WELL AP certification.
  • Experience designing plumbing and fire protection services highly preferred.
  •  Experience in Microsoft Project, SharePoint, and Teams.
